We've spent the last few weeks working on our Narrative stories. Students could create a real or imagined story that includes the 5 elements of a plot; exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution. After completing their narratives students will either turn their story into an e-book or an episode of a podcast! Once stories are finished this week, i'll be adding the podcast and the e'books to our website for everyone to enjoy! Remember no school, on Friday the 13th! and report cards are going out the following week. Once were back from Spring Break, it's time for some state testing! It's 2020! How is that even possible? I had a great two week break and hope your families did as well. Now that were back we are diving into a unit on advertising. We will be look at how advertisers look to influence and impact kids. It should be eye opening. We are also starting to work on the iReady diagnostic as well. I am looking forward to see how much our students have grown over the last few months. Make sure you are signed up for Flash Alert as well. We are looking as possible snow next week!
We are starting to plan our presentations today! I am so excited for this! Students are working together to plan for how they will present their biographies and who they will present it about. I am going to attach a rubric to show how students will be graded and also the menu of choices they can select their media type from. Those will be attached below.
Just a reminder about conferences Monday evening and all day Tuesday! Can' wait to share with you how this school year is going!
We are starting our Biography Multimedia Presentation unit this week! We started off with learning about Nelson Mandela. We've watched clips of the bio-pic Invictus and asked questions about the setting, Nelson himself, and South Africa. We are using this media to show students that articles and books aren't the only resource available when learning about a person. I can't wait to share with you the different tools students will have available to craft their presentations. I am excited!
The literary analysis will be due Monday, November 11th. (No school that day). The final draft needs to submitted in Google Classroom. I planned it this way, so students could take time over the weekend to complete it (and all of Monday too). I am excited to read these essays and share them with you at conferences at the end of the month!
